What visual mode helps Batman track clues and enemies in Arkham Asylum?

The story behind the answer

Batman uses Detective Vision to track clues and enemies in Arkham Asylum.

The mode overlays the environment with a blue-tinted forensic view. It identifies armed and unarmed enemies, shows their awareness of Batman, highlights interactive objects, and reveals civilians, bodies, destructible surfaces, and removable grates. Batman can also use it to follow footprints, investigate odors, and solve environmental puzzles.

Detective Vision is central to both investigation and stealth. It helps Batman locate Riddler trophies, scan puzzle clues, identify weak walls, and plan attacks without exposing himself. The game’s Predator encounters particularly depend on reading enemy positions and status through this interface.

It is easy to confuse Detective Vision with Predator Mode, but they are not the same thing. Predator refers to stealth-focused challenges and gameplay situations; Detective Vision is Batman’s investigative visual mode. The feature became one of the defining mechanics of the Arkham series.
