What type of sabotage makes the map dark?

The story behind the answer

The sabotage that makes the map dark is Lights. In Among Us, an Impostor can sabotage the spaceship’s electrical lighting system, sharply reducing Crewmates’ vision. The map itself remains available, but players see only a small area around their character until the sabotage is repaired.

Lights sabotage is especially effective because it does not prevent movement or communication outright; it makes players vulnerable while they travel between rooms. Crewmates can fix it by going to Electrical on The Skeld or the corresponding electrical control panel on another map and adjusting the switches until the system is restored.

A common mix-up is confusing Lights with Communications. Communications disrupts information systems such as the task bar, cameras, or other map-specific tools, while Lights specifically affects visibility. Reactor and O2 are different emergency sabotages: they create countdowns that must be resolved quickly or the Impostor wins. The Lights sabotage is therefore the canonical answer whenever the question describes the map becoming dark.
