What type of play does Wikipedia say Among Us allows across platforms?

The story behind the answer

Wikipedia says Among Us allows cross-platform play across supported platforms.

Cross-platform play means people using different systems can join the same multiplayer game. Among Us supports play between its mobile versions, Windows release, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox consoles, subject to the versions and services involved. This feature helped the game become a particularly accessible party game for friends who owned different hardware.

The game first appeared on iOS and Android in June 2018 and reached Windows later that year. When the Nintendo Switch version launched on December 15, 2020, it supported cross-platform play with mobile and Windows players. PlayStation and Xbox editions followed on December 14, 2021, and also supported cross-platform multiplayer with the existing versions.

Cross-platform play is not the same as cross-platform progression. Playing together concerns multiplayer compatibility, while progression concerns carrying accounts, cosmetics, or unlocks between devices. Among Us is also an online social-deduction game, not a cloud-only, turn-based, or split-screen title. Its matches are real-time, with players completing tasks and discussing suspected Impostors.
