What is the real name of the Cobra ninja Storm Shadow?

Storm Shadow’s real name is Tommy Arashikage.

In the original G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero continuity, the character is Thomas “Tommy” S. Arashikage, a Japanese American ninja and heir to the Arashikage clan. He served in a U.S. Army long-range reconnaissance unit with Snake Eyes and Stalker before returning to Japan and training with his family’s secretive ninja organization.

Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes began as close friends but became bitter rivals after Snake Eyes was selected as the Hard Master’s successor. Storm Shadow was later framed for the Hard Master’s murder by Zartan and joined Cobra while seeking revenge. In many versions, he eventually recognizes the truth and fights alongside the Joes.

The name varies by continuity. Larry Hama later introduced “Tomisaburo Arashikage” in a solo series, and the live-action films use Thomas or Tommy Arashikage. “Tommy Arashikage” remains the standard quiz answer.
