What is the name of the G.I. Joe team's F-14 fighter jet vehicle?
Answer
Skystriker
Answer
Skystriker
The G.I. Joe team’s F-14-inspired fighter jet vehicle is the Skystriker.
The original toy’s full designation was Skystriker XP-14F. It was released by Hasbro in 1983 and packaged with Ace, the team’s principal fighter pilot. The aircraft’s variable-sweep wings, twin vertical stabilizers and twin-seat cockpit clearly echo the real Grumman F-14 Tomcat.
The Skystriker became one of G.I. Joe’s signature vehicles in the Marvel comics, Sunbow animated series and toy line. In the cartoon, it was used by several qualified Joe pilots rather than belonging exclusively to Ace. The later Conquest X-30 served as another major Joe fighter.
A common mix-up is answering “Tomcat.” That is the real-world aircraft that inspired the fictional jet, while Skystriker is the G.I. Joe vehicle’s name. The XP-14F designation deliberately reinforces the connection without making it an actual Navy F-14.
