The Among Us feature that lets players communicate with preset chat phrases is called Quick Chat. Instead of typing any message, players select from predefined templates designed for common observations, questions, and responses.
Quick Chat was added in February 2021 as a faster and safer communication option. It is especially important for younger players and for accounts or lobbies that restrict free-form text. Players with access to Free Chat can generally choose between typed messages and the preset system, depending on the lobby settings.
The feature has changed over time. Its original interface used a radial selection wheel, while a later update introduced a Quick Chat Builder and favorite phrases. The exact available phrases and categories can therefore vary by version and game mode.
Quick Chat is not the same as Free Chat: “preset chat,” “speed chat,” and “fast chat” describe its function, but Quick Chat is the game's canonical feature name.
