What is the name of Peru’s waterfall that was measured at about 771 metres in total height?

The story behind the answer

Gocta Falls is the Peruvian waterfall measured at about 771 metres in total height.

The falls, also called the Gocta Cataracts, are in Amazonas Region near the village of Cocachimba. They consist of two principal drops rather than one uninterrupted plunge. The upper and lower sections descend through a steep, green Andean valley surrounded by cloud-forest vegetation.

Gocta became internationally prominent after a 2005 expedition led by German explorer Stefan Ziemendorff and local residents. The waterfall was already known to nearby communities, so claims that it was “discovered” in 2005 are misleading; the expedition helped bring it to global attention and publicize measurements.

Its total height is sometimes presented differently because waterfall rankings depend on surveying methods and whether separate drops are combined. The 771-metre figure refers to the full two-stage descent.
