China’s Huangguoshu Waterfall is 77.8 metres high, making it one of Asia’s largest waterfalls.
Huangguoshu is on the Baishui River in Guizhou Province. The main fall is about 101 metres wide, and the surrounding scenic area contains numerous additional waterfalls, caves and water-worn formations.
Visitors can view the waterfall from several angles, including from behind the falling water in Water-Curtain Cave. That unusual viewpoint is one reason Huangguoshu is especially prominent in Chinese tourism and landscape imagery.
The name is sometimes rendered as Huangguoshu or Huangguoshu Falls in English. Its height should not be confused with its width: 77.8 metres refers to the vertical drop, while the main cascade’s width is roughly 101 metres.
