What do killed or ejected players become in Among Us? They become ghosts.
A ghost is the post-elimination state for a player whose Crewmate or Impostor has been killed or voted out. Ghosts remain in the round rather than returning to the lobby immediately, but living players can no longer see or interact with them.
Ghost abilities depend on the eliminated player’s original team. Crewmate ghosts can finish their assigned tasks, helping the living Crewmates reach a task-based victory. Impostor ghosts can continue sabotaging systems, although they cannot directly kill anyone. This means eliminated players still have a meaningful role and should not simply disconnect.
Ghosts can also pass through walls and observe the action, making the game’s hidden information especially useful after elimination. A common mix-up is “spectators”: spectators may observe, but the game’s canonical term for killed or ejected players is “ghosts.” The later Guardian Angel role adds another twist, because the first dead Crewmate’s ghost may receive a temporary protective ability.
