Red is the default Crewmate color shown in Among Us promotional art. The red Crewmate appears prominently in the game’s logo, loading imagery, trailers, official illustrations, and other marketing, making it the character most audiences associate with the game.
Red is a selectable player color rather than a unique character with a special role. Players can customize their Crewmates’ colors and cosmetics, and color does not determine whether someone is a Crewmate or an Impostor. The game assigns roles independently at the start of each round.
A common mix-up comes from the phrase “Red is sus,” a popular meme that grew during the game’s 2020 streaming boom. Red is not statistically more likely to be the Impostor. The color simply received extra attention because it was used as Among Us’s most recognizable visual representative, especially in promotional art and the game’s title imagery.
