Filming began in the Kansas City metropolitan area, reflecting Ted's American setting and the production's use of Jason Sudeikis's hometown region. Later in the summer, the production moved back to London, the show's principal fictional setting.
The change of location mirrors the season's story. Ted starts in Kansas City after leaving Richmond, but the plot brings him back to England to coach the women's team. London should not be confused with the Kansas City locations used earlier in filming or with the series' fictional town of Richmond.
