Destiny’s Child released its debut studio album in 1998.
The self-titled album, Destiny’s Child, arrived on February 17, 1998, through Columbia Records. It introduced the group to a wider audience and included the single “No, No, No,” which featured Wyclef Jean in its remix version.
Beyoncé was one of the group’s original members, alongside Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett. Before signing with Columbia, the group had performed under the name Girl’s Tyme and had undergone several lineup changes.
The album should not be confused with The Writing’s on the Wall, released in 1999. That second album became a much larger commercial breakthrough, helped by hits such as “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name.”
