The British television programme Dragon's Den first aired on BBC Two in 2005.
The programme launched in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2005, adapting the Japanese investment format Money Tigers. Entrepreneurs present business proposals to wealthy investors, who question them before deciding whether to invest their own money.
BBC Two was the BBC channel associated with the show's original run and remains the key broadcaster in the programme's British history. The series later became one of the channel's best-known factual-entertainment formats. It is sometimes confused with the BBC's main general channel, BBC One, but Dragon's Den began on BBC Two.
The format has also been adapted in many countries. In the United States, the related adaptation is Shark Tank, while the British programme retained the “dragons” nickname for its investors.
