In Pokémon Pokopia, the player controls Ditto while it imitates a human.
This premise uses Ditto’s established transformation ability as the foundation for the game’s building and life-simulation mechanics. Rather than controlling a human trainer, players guide a Ditto that has taken on a human-like form.
The transformed Ditto can customize its appearance, including skin color, hair color, and clothing. It also befriends other Pokémon, learns moves from them, and uses those moves to interact with the environment.
This setup is easy to confuse with a conventional Pokémon adventure, where the player usually controls a human trainer. Pokopia instead makes a Pokémon the central character, matching its focus on habitats, crafting, building, and cooperation rather than gym battles.
