In Pokémon Pokopia, the player controls Ditto after it transforms to look human.
This premise gives the game its distinctive identity. Rather than controlling a human Pokémon Trainer, players guide a Ditto through a deserted world and use its transformation-based abilities to rebuild habitats, gather materials, and help other Pokémon.
The Ditto can also be customized with different skin colors, hair colors, and clothing. As players befriend Pokémon, those Pokémon teach Ditto moves that have practical uses outside traditional battles, such as watering plants, cutting debris, or smashing rocks.
Ditto is a Normal-type Pokémon known throughout the wider series for transforming into other Pokémon. Pokopia uses that familiar ability in a life-simulation setting, making Ditto both the protagonist and the main tool for interacting with the environment.
