In Pixar’s Cars, which sponsor is printed on Lightning McQueen’s body?

The story behind the answer

Rust-eze is the sponsor printed on Lightning McQueen’s body in Pixar’s Cars.

At the start of the film, Lightning is a rookie Piston Cup driver sponsored by the company, whose branding appears prominently on his red paintwork. Rust-eze is presented as a product associated with helping cars remove rust, and its sponsorship is central to Lightning’s early racing identity.

The sponsor connects Lightning to Rusty and Dusty Rust-eze, the company’s owners, who support him even when he is dismissive of them. Later, Lightning becomes associated with the Dinoco team, creating one of the franchise’s major sponsorship changes.

Dinoco is therefore a frequent wrong answer: it is an important racing brand in Cars, but it is not Lightning’s original sponsor. Other fictional sponsors, including Octane Gain and Mood Springs, belong to different Piston Cup competitors.
