Miles Axlerod secretly masterminds the international plot in Pixar's Cars 2.
Axlerod is introduced as a billionaire former oil baron who organizes the World Grand Prix. He promotes Allinol, an alternative fuel, and presents the race as a global demonstration of the fuel's benefits. His public image hides the film's central conspiracy.
The plot involves remote-controlled cars, electromagnetic technology, and attacks intended to discredit Allinol. Axlerod's scheme ultimately seeks to profit from the resulting public reaction and manipulate the market for alternative fuels.
Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell are British spies investigating the conspiracy, while Professor Zündapp serves as one of its important operatives. Because several characters have espionage roles, viewers sometimes confuse the villain with Zündapp or the spy McMissile. Axlerod is the organizer at the center of the deception.
