Michael J. Fox plays paranormal investigator Frank Bannister in Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners.
Frank Bannister is a former architect who can see ghosts after the death of his wife. He uses that ability to run a fraudulent haunting-removal business, working with three ghost partners while investigating a series of supernatural deaths.
The Frighteners was released in 1996 and combines horror, comedy and supernatural mystery. It was Fox’s final leading film role before he concentrated more heavily on television and other work while managing Parkinson’s disease, which he had been diagnosed with in 1991.
Christopher Lloyd appears as one of Frank’s ghost associates, the Judge, but he does not play Frank. Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum are also unrelated alternatives: neither is the film’s paranormal investigator.
