Up to four players can join Pokémon Pokopia’s multiplayer at once.
The game supports both online and local wireless multiplayer, allowing friends to visit and help build a shared Pokémon paradise. Multiplayer fits the game’s central design because construction, decoration, exploration, and photography are collaborative activities rather than battle-focused competition.
Nintendo also lists GameShare support, which lets a player share the game with someone who does not own it during a compatible session. Local wireless play has its own requirement: each participating player needs a console and a copy of the software.
The number four refers to the maximum player count, not the number of Pokémon that can live in a habitat or the number of players required for multiplayer. Pokopia can still be played as a single-player game.
