Drake won 13 Billboard Music Awards at the 2017 ceremony. That total made him the night’s most-awarded artist and tied the ceremony to one of the strongest individual performances in Billboard Music Awards history.
His wins reflected success across several areas rather than a single category. Drake won Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Tour, and Top Billboard 200 Album for Views. He also won awards connected with songs and collaborations, including “One Dance.”
Drake’s 13 victories came from 22 nominations, which also made him one of the ceremony’s most nominated artists. The Chainsmokers matched his nomination total, but Drake finished clearly ahead in wins. Beyoncé and Twenty One Pilots each won five awards, while several other artists collected smaller totals.
The 2017 ceremony was held on May 21 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and was hosted by Ludacris and Vanessa Hudgens. Drake’s performance was later surpassed when he won even more awards at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, but 13 remains the correct total for the 2017 ceremony.
