Shortly after release, Among Us averaged about 30 to 50 concurrent players.
That modest figure describes the game’s early performance, not the enormous audience it later attracted. Among Us launched on Android and iOS in June 2018, initially receiving little mainstream attention. Its small player base was nevertheless active enough to encourage Innersloth to keep developing the project.
The studio continued adding online features, tasks, customization, and additional maps rather than abandoning the game. Among Us later came to Steam on November 16, 2018, but its real breakthrough arrived in 2020, when Twitch streamers and YouTubers made its social-deduction gameplay widely visible during the COVID-19 pandemic.
By September 2020, the game had reached roughly 1.5 million concurrent players, with a later peak of about 3.8 million. Those figures are sometimes mistakenly substituted for the original average, but they belong to the later popularity surge, years after release.
