Jack Thorne wrote the stage-play script for J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The production was developed as a collaboration among Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne, and director John Tiffany. Rowling created the story and helped shape the continuation of the Wizarding World, while Thorne wrote the script performed on stage.
Cursed Child is set nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Its central characters include the adult Harry Potter and his son Albus Severus Potter, whose experience at Hogwarts forms the play’s emotional and dramatic focus.
A frequent mix-up is crediting director John Tiffany or film screenwriter Steve Kloves as the playwright. Tiffany directed the original production, while Thorne received the playwriting credit. The published script was released in 2016, alongside the original West End production.
