Which film series did J.K. Rowling script about the wizard Newt Scamander?
Answer
Fantastic Beasts
Answer
Fantastic Beasts
J.K. Rowling scripted the Fantastic Beasts film series about wizard and magizoologist Newt Scamander. The first film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, was released in 2016 and marked Rowling’s screenwriting debut.
The movies are set decades before the Harry Potter story and begin in 1926, when Newt arrives in New York City. Eddie Redmayne plays Newt, while the series explores his encounters with magical creatures and the rise of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
The title comes from a Hogwarts textbook attributed to Newt Scamander. Rowling had previously published a charity companion book with that title in 2001, but the film expanded the brief textbook into an original screenplay and cinematic storyline.
Three films were released: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Crimes of Grindelwald and The Secrets of Dumbledore.
