Which Hogwarts professor teaches Care of Magical Creatures and is called Rubeus Hagrid in Rowling’s books?

The story behind the answer

Rubeus Hagrid teaches Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts in J.K. Rowling’s books.

Hagrid is introduced as the gamekeeper and Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. He later becomes the school’s Care of Magical Creatures teacher, taking over lessons after Professor Kettleburn retires. His unusual height comes from his half-giant heritage: his mother, Fridwulfa, was a giant, while his father was human.

Hagrid’s affection for dangerous animals repeatedly creates problems. He raises the giant spider Aragog, owns a three-headed dog named Fang, and secretly hatches a dragon called Norbert. Despite his mistakes, he is fiercely loyal to Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Albus Dumbledore. Hagrid also reveals that Voldemort was responsible for opening the Chamber of Secrets decades earlier, a memory that helps Harry investigate the mystery.

The character’s first name is Rubeus, not “Rubeus Hagrid” as a title; Hagrid is his family name. Robbie Coltrane portrayed him in the original Harry Potter film series.
