María Pérez won the women’s half marathon race walk at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
The Spanish race walker completed the event in 1:30:06 and was credited with a world record. Italy’s Alexandrina Mihai finished second in 1:31:04, while Ukraine’s Lyudmila Olyanovska took bronze in 1:31:07.
The half marathon race walk was one of the championship’s road events. Race walking requires athletes to maintain continuous visible contact with the ground and keep the advancing leg straight until the body passes over it.
This event was distinct from the women’s marathon race walk, which was won by Italy’s Sofia Fiorini. Birmingham’s programme included both distances for men and women, reflecting the championship’s expanded road-race schedule.
