Who voices Master Oogway in the English version of Kung Fu Panda?

Randall Duk Kim voices Master Oogway in the English version of Kung Fu Panda.

Master Oogway is the elderly tortoise who founded the Jade Palace’s kung fu tradition and serves as the story’s spiritual guide. Early in the film, he recognizes Po’s potential and announces that Po is the Dragon Warrior, despite the objections of Master Shifu and the Furious Five.

Randall Duk Kim, an American actor known for stage and screen work, supplied Oogway’s English voice. His calm, resonant delivery gives the character an ancient and contemplative quality, contrasting with Po’s energetic comic performance.

The cast is easy to mix up because several prominent actors voice kung fu masters. James Hong voices Mr. Ping, Jackie Chan voices Monkey, and Dustin Hoffman voices Shifu. None of those actors voices Oogway in the first film. Oogway’s character is also a tortoise, not a turtle-like version of another master.
