Who voices Lightning McQueen in Pixar's Cars movies?

Owen Wilson voices Lightning McQueen in Pixar's Cars movies.

Wilson gives McQueen a recognizable voice that combines fast-talking confidence, comic impatience, and later warmth. McQueen begins Cars as a self-centered rookie focused on winning the Piston Cup, but his experiences with the residents of Radiator Springs gradually change his priorities.

The casting helped define the character's personality. Wilson was already known for relaxed, conversational comic performances, making him a natural fit for a race car who boasts about his ability but is not yet emotionally mature. McQueen's vocal style contrasts with the more eccentric voices used for Mater, Luigi, and other residents.

Wilson returned as McQueen in Cars 2 and Cars 3. The films also use a large ensemble of actors and automotive personalities, but Wilson's performance remains the central voice performance across the theatrical Cars trilogy. Lightning is not voiced by the actors who portray his human-like racing rivals in other franchises.
