Who succeeded Steve Jobs as Apple’s chief executive in 2011?
Answer
Tim Cook
Answer
Tim Cook
Tim Cook succeeded Steve Jobs as Apple’s chief executive in 2011.
Cook became Apple CEO on August 24, 2011, after Jobs resigned from the position because of continuing health problems. Jobs remained Apple’s chairman until his death on October 5, 2011.
Before becoming CEO, Cook had served as Apple’s chief operating officer and had repeatedly acted as chief executive during Jobs’s medical leaves. His operational leadership included managing Apple’s global supply chain and manufacturing relationships.
John Sculley was an earlier Apple CEO, serving from 1983 to 1993. Jony Ive led design, not the company, while Scott Forstall was a senior software executive. Cook therefore represents the direct succession from Jobs’s final tenure.
