What was the name of Steve Jobs’s biological mother?

The story behind the answer

Steve Jobs’s biological mother was Joanne Schieble.

Schieble gave birth to Jobs in 1955 and, together with his biological father Abdulfattah Jandali, placed him for adoption. Paul and Clara Jobs adopted him and raised him in the Santa Clara Valley of California.

Jobs later learned more about his biological family. His biological sister, Mona Simpson, became a novelist, and the two developed a relationship after discovering one another as adults. These family details are often discussed in biographies because adoption and family identity shaped parts of Jobs’s personal story.

Joanne Schieble is sometimes confused with Clara Jobs, who was Steve Jobs’s adoptive mother. They occupied different roles in his family history.
