Who provided the English voice of Mater in Pixar’s Cars films?

Larry the Cable Guy provided the English voice of Mater in Pixar’s Cars films. Mater is a rusty tow truck from Radiator Springs and becomes Lightning McQueen’s closest friend.

The character’s humor comes from his direct speech, enthusiasm, and unusual ability to turn ordinary situations into elaborate stories. Despite being treated as foolish by some characters, Mater is loyal, observant, and willing to help Lightning when it matters.

Larry the Cable Guy, the stage name of comedian Daniel Lawrence Whitney, gave Mater a recognizable Southern-style comic delivery. That performance helped make Mater one of the most prominent supporting characters in the franchise.

Mater becomes especially important in Cars 2, where his accidental involvement in international espionage drives the plot. He also appears in the Cars shorts and spin-off material, while remaining closely connected to Radiator Springs and Lightning’s personal growth.
