Jay-Z joined Beyoncé on her 2003 hit song “Crazy in Love.”
“Crazy in Love” was released as the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. The song features a rap verse by Jay-Z, who was credited as a featured artist. Its production was built around a prominent horn sample from the Chi-Lites’ 1970 song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So).”
The track became one of Beyoncé’s defining early solo songs. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number one in the United Kingdom. Its energetic horn arrangement, repeated hook, and dance-focused music video helped establish Beyoncé’s post-Destiny’s Child image.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé later married in 2008, but their relationship was not the reason he was featured on the recording: he was invited to contribute a rap section to the song. “Crazy in Love” is sometimes confused with “03 Bonnie & Clyde,” another early-2000s collaboration between the pair, but that song is primarily credited to Jay-Z featuring Beyoncé.
