Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella headlining performance was popularly called “Beychella.”
She headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2018, becoming the first Black woman to lead the festival’s lineup. The performance featured a large marching-band concept, extensive choreography, and appearances by Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
The set became known informally as Beychella, a blend of Beyoncé and Coachella. Beyoncé later developed the performance into the Netflix documentary Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé and a live album released in 2019.
Although “Beychella” is widely used by fans and media, it is not the official name of a separate festival. Coachella remains the event’s formal name, and Beyoncé’s performance consisted of two festival weekends.
