Which group launched Beyoncé to international fame?
Answer
Destiny’s Child
Answer
Destiny’s Child
Destiny’s Child launched Beyoncé to international fame. Formed in Houston in the 1990s, the group originally included Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett. Their blend of R&B vocals and tightly choreographed performances became a defining sound of late-1990s pop.
The group signed with Columbia Records and released its self-titled debut album in 1998. Their breakthrough came with “The Writing’s on the Wall” (1999), which produced hits such as “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name.” Line-up changes eventually left Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland as the best-known core before Michelle Williams joined.
Destiny’s Child announced a hiatus in 2001 and formally disbanded in 2006. Beyoncé’s solo success grew during and after the group’s run, while Destiny’s Child remains one of the best-selling female vocal groups.
