Who is the main racing rival introduced in Pixar’s Cars 3?

Jackson Storm is the main racing rival introduced in Pixar’s Cars 3.

Storm is a next-generation race car whose advanced technology, training, and speed challenge the older generation of racers. His rise contributes to Lightning McQueen’s fear that his career is ending. Storm’s confident, dismissive attitude makes him the principal on-track antagonist of the film.

The story follows Lightning as he works with trainer Cruz Ramirez to improve his performance. Their training includes modern simulation technology, off-road exercises, and lessons about adapting rather than simply relying on past success. The film contrasts Storm’s data-driven approach with Lightning’s experience and determination.

Jackson Storm is distinct from Chick Hicks, Lightning’s rival in the first Cars, and Cal Weathers, a racer connected to the older generation. Storm’s black-and-blue design and futuristic shape emphasize the film’s theme of technological change in motorsport.
