Who is the main detective in the crime novels J.K. Rowling wrote as Robert Galbraith?

The story behind the answer

Cormoran Strike is the main detective in the crime novels J.K. Rowling wrote as Robert Galbraith.

Strike is introduced in The Cuckoo’s Calling, published in 2013. He works as a private investigator in London and is a former Special Investigation Branch investigator in the Royal Military Police. His military background contributes to his investigative skills and to the physical injuries he carries after service.

Robin Ellacott becomes Strike’s secretary and later his investigative partner. Their professional relationship is a continuing thread through the series, alongside the individual mysteries they investigate.

Cormoran Strike is not a character from the Harry Potter universe. The series belongs to the crime-fiction genre and was initially published under Rowling’s pseudonym, Robert Galbraith. Later books include The Silkworm, Career of Evil, Lethal White, Troubled Blood, The Ink Black Heart, and The Running Grave.
