Who directed the South Korean zombie film Train to Busan?
Answer
Yeon Sang-ho
Answer
Yeon Sang-ho
Yeon Sang-ho directed the South Korean zombie film Train to Busan.
Released in 2016, Train to Busan follows fund manager Seok-woo and his daughter Su-an aboard a high-speed train traveling from Seoul toward Busan. A zombie outbreak begins shortly after departure, turning the confined train into a series of dangerous compartments and forcing passengers to cooperate.
The film was Yeon Sang-ho’s first live-action feature. Before it, he was known for animated films including The King of Pigs and The Fake. Train to Busan combines fast action with emotional family drama and social criticism, particularly through its treatment of wealth, responsibility, and collective survival.
Gong Yoo plays Seok-woo, while Jung Yu-mi and Ma Dong-seok play other major passengers. The film led to the animated prequel Seoul Station and the live-action sequel Peninsula. Those related films should not be confused with the original train-set story.
