Destin Daniel Cretton directed the 2026 film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Cretton became known for directing Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, released in 2021. His experience with superhero action and character-focused storytelling made him a natural choice for a new Spider-Man chapter.

He joined Brand New Day during its pre-production period, after earlier development work had already begun on the fourth MCU Spider-Man film. Unlike the previous three MCU Spider-Man movies, which were directed by Jon Watts, Brand New Day introduced a different filmmaking team behind the camera.

The film continued Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker while shifting toward a more solitary, street-level story. Cretton also worked with returning writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, helping shape the film's focus on Peter's identity, isolation, and evolving powers.
