Spider-Man: Brand New Day was intended to begin a new trilogy of three films starring Tom Holland.
Producer Amy Pascal revealed the trilogy plan in November 2021, shortly before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The announcement described Brand New Day as the first part of a fresh set of Holland-led Spider-Man stories.
A trilogy means a connected group of three films. The plan does not mean that Brand New Day itself is the third movie; it is intended to open the new group.
The movie is also described as the fourth MCU Spider-Man film overall. That franchise count and the planned trilogy count measure different things: one tracks Holland’s MCU Spider-Man entries, while the other describes the proposed new story cycle.
