Who directed the 2021 zombie heist film Army of the Dead?
Answer
Zack Snyder
Answer
Zack Snyder
Zack Snyder directed the 2021 zombie heist film Army of the Dead.
The film combines two popular genres: zombie horror and the heist movie. Its premise follows a group of mercenaries entering a quarantined Las Vegas to recover money from a casino vault before a planned nuclear strike destroys the city. Snyder directed, co-wrote and served as cinematographer, giving the movie a distinctive shallow-focus visual style.
Dave Bautista leads the cast as Scott Ward, a former soldier recruited for the mission. The story also includes organized and intelligent zombies, including the alpha leader Zeus, which expands the usual rules of the genre. Netflix released the film in 2021.
Army of the Dead is separate from Snyder’s earlier Dawn of the Dead remake, which he directed in 2004. Both films involve zombie outbreaks, but Army of the Dead is an original heist-oriented story rather than a remake of Romero’s classic.
