Who directed the 2007 zombie film Planet Terror?
Answer
Robert Rodriguez
Answer
Robert Rodriguez
Robert Rodriguez directed the 2007 zombie film Planet Terror.
Planet Terror forms one half of the double feature Grindhouse, released with Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. Rodriguez wrote, directed, produced, photographed and edited Planet Terror, giving the film a deliberately exaggerated exploitation-movie style. Its story follows survivors battling infected people after a biological weapon is released.
Rose McGowan stars as Cherry Darling, while Freddy Rodriguez plays Wray. Cherry’s replacement leg, fitted with a machine gun, became one of the film’s most recognizable images. The movie intentionally includes fake damage, rough transitions and other effects designed to imitate worn prints of 1970s exploitation films.
Because Tarantino and Rodriguez presented their movies together as Grindhouse, viewers sometimes attribute Planet Terror to Tarantino. Tarantino directed Death Proof, but Rodriguez directed Planet Terror. The two filmmakers also collaborated on the broader presentation, which included fictional trailers shown between the features.
