Who directed the 2002 British zombie film 28 Days Later?
Answer
Danny Boyle
Answer
Danny Boyle
Danny Boyle directed the 2002 British zombie film 28 Days Later.
The film begins when bicycle courier Jim wakes from a coma in an apparently deserted London. A rage-inducing virus has spread after animal-rights activists release infected chimpanzees from a research facility. Jim later joins Selena, Mark, and Frank while searching for safety in a rapidly collapsing Britain.
Alex Garland wrote the screenplay, and Boyle’s direction gave the film a distinctive visual style. Digital video cameras helped create its rough, immediate look, while deserted London streets made the outbreak feel unusually realistic. The attackers are infected humans driven by extreme aggression rather than traditional corpses returning from the grave.
That distinction causes some classification debates: the film is widely discussed as a modern zombie movie, even though its creatures are living infected people. The sequel, 28 Weeks Later, was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, not Boyle.
