Who directed Pixar's Cars?
Answer
John Lasseter
Answer
John Lasseter
John Lasseter directed Pixar's Cars.
Lasseter co-directed the film with Joe Ranft and Dan Fogelman, but he is credited as the film's director. Cars was a major personal project for Lasseter because of his interest in automobiles, road trips, and American car culture.
Before Cars, Lasseter had directed Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, and co-directed several Pixar projects. He later returned as a producer for Cars 2 and Cars 3. Joe Ranft, who was also a key Pixar story artist and writer, died in a car accident in 2005 before Cars was completed.
The directing credit is sometimes confused with the film's writers or voice cast. Owen Wilson voiced Lightning McQueen, while Paul Newman voiced Doc Hudson. Brad Bird directed The Incredibles, Pete Docter directed Monsters, Inc. and Up, and Andrew Stanton directed Finding Nemo.
