Who directed Pixar’s Cars, released in 2006?

The story behind the answer

John Lasseter directed Pixar’s Cars, released in 2006.

Lasseter co-directed Toy Story and directed A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, and Cars during Pixar’s early feature-film era. Cars was his first feature as a director after Toy Story 2 and became Pixar’s seventh animated feature. The film follows Lightning McQueen after he becomes stranded near Radiator Springs.

The film’s production drew heavily on Lasseter’s interest in cars, road trips, and American car culture. Pixar artists researched real vehicles, roads, racing, and landscapes to create a world in which every character is an automobile. Joe Ranft and Dan Fogelman were among the writers involved in the project.

Brad Bird, Pete Docter, and Andrew Stanton are also major Pixar directors, but they directed other films. Bird directed The Incredibles, Docter directed Monsters, Inc. and Up, and Stanton directed Finding Nemo and WALL-E.
