Who composed the musical score for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa?

Hans Zimmer composed the musical score for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.

Zimmer’s score supports the film’s shift from the first movie’s island setting to the African savanna. It combines orchestral writing with rhythmic and globally influenced musical colors suited to the film’s movement between comedy, adventure, and family drama.

The film also uses popular songs, including material associated with the Madagascar series. Those songs are separate from the original score, which consists of music written to accompany the scenes and characters.

Hans Zimmer is a major film composer whose credits include The Lion King, Gladiator, and Inception. His involvement in Escape 2 Africa is one reason the movie’s music is sometimes incorrectly attributed to composers connected with other animated franchises or to the artists performing its featured songs.
