Who co-directed The Lego Movie?
Answer
Lord and Miller
Answer
Lord and Miller
The Lego Movie was co-directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The pair also wrote the screenplay and helped shape the film’s unusually energetic mix of comedy, adventure, and toy-based world-building.
The 2014 film grew from Warner Bros.’ plan to turn the Lego brand into a feature film. Lord and Miller, already known for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street, developed the project with producers Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Their approach treated Lego as a storytelling medium rather than simply product placement.
Chris McKay also had an important production role. He joined as an animation co-director and supervised much of the work in Australia while Lord and Miller were occupied with 22 Jump Street. However, the film’s credited directing team and the standard quiz answer are Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
The finished movie premiered in 2014, follows Emmet Brickowski, and became the foundation of a wider Lego film franchise.
