Evan Davis became the regular presenter of the British television programme Dragons' Den from its third series.
Davis took over presenting duties after Adrian Chiles hosted the first series. He became strongly associated with the programme’s format, introducing entrepreneurs, explaining the businesses being pitched and observing negotiations between contestants and investors.
His background in economics and journalism suited a show built around valuations, ownership percentages, turnover and profit. Davis had already worked for the BBC as an economics correspondent and presenter before becoming a familiar face in entertainment and factual television.
The changeover is easy to misremember because Davis is associated with much of the programme’s long run. He was not the launch presenter, however: Chiles hosted series 1, while Davis began his regular role with series 3. The presenter’s job is also separate from the Dragons’ role; Davis did not invest in the businesses as a panel member.
