Amy Hunt became the first athlete to win four gold medals at one European Athletics Championships in 2026.
The British sprinter won the women’s 100 metres and 200 metres, then added gold medals in the women’s 4 × 100 metres relay and mixed 4 × 100 metres relay. Her four-title haul set a championship first for any athlete, male or female.
Hunt won the 100 metres in 11.00 seconds and the 200 metres in 22.19 seconds. Her relay victories came as part of Britain’s successful sprint squads, which also included established stars such as Dina Asher-Smith.
The achievement is different from holding the record for most career medals. Dina Asher-Smith also made history in Birmingham by becoming the most decorated athlete in championship history, but Hunt’s record concerned the number of golds won at one edition.
