The Johnny Cash Show
Answer
The Johnny Cash Show
The TV show hosted by Johnny Cash from 1969 to 1971 was The Johnny Cash Show. It was an American music variety series that aired on ABC from June 7, 1969, to March 31, 1971.
The program was taped at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, then the home of the Grand Ole Opry. Cash opened episodes with his familiar greeting, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash," and combined performances by country stars, folk musicians, rock artists, and mainstream entertainers.
Regular participants included June Carter Cash, the Carter Family, the Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins, and The Tennessee Three. Guests included Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Neil Young, and many other prominent performers.
The show ran for two seasons and 58 episodes. It ended during the period known as the rural purge, when American television networks canceled several programs with strong rural or country audiences. Hee Haw and The Grand Ole Opry were separate country-music programs, not Cash's ABC series.
