Rex is the green Tyrannosaurus rex toy in the Toy Story films.
Rex is a plastic dinosaur who belongs to Andy’s toy collection. Although his appearance suggests a frightening predator, Rex is anxious, easily startled, and concerned that he is not scary enough. This contrast between his dinosaur shape and his nervous personality is a recurring source of humor.
He appears as part of Woody’s wider group of toys from the first Toy Story onward. Rex often participates in rescue plans and group discussions, even when his worries make him hesitant. His fearfulness does not prevent him from helping the other toys when their situation becomes serious.
Rex is sometimes confused with Trixie, another dinosaur character introduced in Toy Story 3. Rex is male and resembles a Tyrannosaurus rex, while Trixie is a blue Triceratops. The character’s name is simply Rex, rather than a longer dinosaur species name.
