The strawberry-scented teddy bear in Pixar’s Toy Story 3 is Lotso.
Lotso, short for Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear, appears to be a kindly leader when Andy’s toys arrive at Sunnyside Daycare. His strawberry scent and soft pink design make him seem welcoming, but he secretly runs the daycare through a rigid system that sends new toys to the rough Caterpillar Room.
The film reveals that Lotso was once loved by a child named Daisy. After being lost and replaced, Lotso interpreted the experience as proof that toys are disposable. He returns to Daisy’s home, sees the replacement bear, and develops a bitter worldview.
Ned Beatty voiced Lotso in Toy Story 3. The character is an important contrast to the film’s main toys: both Lotso and Woody fear abandonment, but Woody responds by preserving friendship, while Lotso uses authority to control others.
